Specific Diagnosis of Allergic Diseases

Belgrade, July 27, 2010. – The Allergy Laboratory of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry uses the latest generation of highly sensitive and specific immunological tests for determination of concentration of allergen-specific antibodies and other markers of allergic reaction by chemiluminescence method in the blood sample. It thus provides the platform aimed at early diagnosis, prognosis and an in-vitro monitoring of allergy therapeutic effects by determining allergen-specific antibodies (IgE and IgG) for a wide spectrum of separate allergens and several tents of allergen groups.
Allergies are the most common disorders of the Immune System. They affect appriximately 20% of population and record a constant increase in the incidence rate. The causes of allergic diseases have not yet been precisely sorted out, but it is assumed that they are a response to a greater exposure to external allergens coupled with lower immune system stimulation due to environmental and hereditary factors. To properly diagnose a patient susceptible to allergy, in addition to a specialist examination, in vivo clinical testing (skin tests and exposure test)as well as in vitro allergy laboratory tests for detecting the presence of specific antibodies are required.

The above mentioned diagnostic tests can be conducted at the MMA’s Institute of Medical Biochemistry every working day between 07,30 and 19.30 h.
